CAV-CON 2017 Premiere Game Event:
"A Time of Storms"

Introduction Each year, Talon Games uses ReaperCon to introduce our latest game board for events we will be running at subsequent shows over the next 12 months. For 2017 we will be presenting our most ambitious board ever, Vega IV! Measuring a whopping 30 feet long, the Vega IV game board features three "zones" built around the planet's capital city of Eden, the adjoining planetary starport/space elevator, and planet's main military facility, Fort Joseph Smith.

Also new this year is the format we will be using to run the game. Instead of multiple "one-shot" battles, the game will run as a continous event that players may join at any time (see schedule below for active game times) as their schedule permits. Players will be assigned one or more models based on their skill level and the length of time they wish to play and may play as many times as they wish throughout the show, generating "points" based on the damage they inflict upon the enemy as well any points they may receive from our GMs for events deemed worthy of "special" consideration (such as a one-shot kill or an impossible die roll). Prizes will be awarded to the top ten finishers on Sunday and every player will receive a special participation award (one per player).

New to CAV: Strike Operations? No worries as our friendly GM "overseers" are their to teach you the game as well. While the battle on the game board is inter-connected story-wise, play will be split across the three zones allowing for more players to participate without overly slowing down play.

    Background Information

    "A Time of Storms"
Vega IV, The United Terran Federation
    10 June, 2275

For the last eighty-five years the armistice between the Terran Federation and the Rach Empire has held. Established by the Vela Accords in 2189 under the auspices of the Adon Economic Confederation, the armistice formalized the current border between the Terrans and the Rach. While both sides have made raiding across the border a common occurrence in the day-to-day lives of many of the border’s residents, major fighting has remained contained to the no-man’s world of Hellspire… until now.

With the Adonese on the verge of a second civil war and rumblings that NADO may soon dissolve, the Rach emperor, himself facing mounting pressure from the other Ongban’s (chieftains), has unleashed the clans, the “children of the storm,” upon the Terrans once again, intent on completing their promise to conquer every “who-mahn” (Rach pronunciation for human) world in the galaxy.

Vega IV is a terrestrial world covered by lush forest valleys and raging rivers fed by the frequent run-off from the planet’s massive mountain ranges. First settled in 2150 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under an official charter granted by the Terran Exploration and Research Administration, Vega IV (Salvation as it is known by its inhabitants) has maintained its status as a member world of the Federation. The planet’s capital city, Eden, is a vibrant, modern city built within one of the many valleys found across the planet’s surface.

The “choosing” of Vega IV has been won by the Ghukhura clan and their army, “The Gnashing of Teeth.” Led by the Vorak Stran Regiment, “The Soul Takers” and the Detrakk Khar Regiment, “Ravaging Hunger,” the Rach invaders have landed in the valley around the capital city of Eden, the planet’s main starport, and Fort Joseph Smith, the main military base on-world. Facing them are elements of the 101st Legion, “The Silver Eagles” and the 117th Legion, “The Warriors.”
